Breaking up is hard to do… Larry Ginsberg was busy this week… He represents Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, who officially annulled her marriage to Rick Solomon on Monday. Documents cite fraud as the reason for end of this marriage, which only lasted from October 6th to December 13th. 2. Laura Wasser, who represents Philip John Clapp (better known as Jackass Johnny Knoxville) also had divorce papers to deal with. Knoxville split from his wife Melanie Lynn after 11 years of marriage. She is represented by Ronald Rosenfeld. The “jackass” filed for divorce last July citing irreconcilable differences. 3. Robin Williams once said “Ah, yes, divorce, from the Latin word meaning to rip out a man’s genitals through his wallet.” He’s probably not laughing so much about now… His lawyer Robert Kaufman of Beverly Hills reported that Williams split with his wife of 20 years due to irreconcilable differences. His now ex-wife, Marsha Garces Williams, should have thought twice about her vows after Williams said in his comedy act “I’m looking for Miss Right, or at least, Miss Right Now”. 4. Time to face the music. Gibson Guitar Corporation, represented by F. Leslie Bessenger, sued Wal-Mart, Target, Kmart, Amazon and other retailers this week that sell the Activision Incorporated’s “Guitar Hero”, claiming the game infringed it’s patent. Activision’s lawyer, George Rose, said “We disagree with the applicability of their patent and would like legal determination on this.” 5. What would you rather: English or Incarceration? Luzerne County Judge Peter Paul Olszewski Jr. sentenced three Hispanic men to 24 months in prison for conspiracy to commit robbery. They can, however, avoid the jail time if they agree to learn to read and write the English language, earn their GED, and, within 30 days of release, get a full time job while on parole. If they don’t complete all these tasks in a years time then they will serve the 24 months. The Judge said “The ruling is supposed to help, not punish.” Attorneys representing the suspects (and translating the judges ruling for them) Joseph Yeager and Ferris Webby, were pleased with the outcome. 6. And finally, what would Lawyers in the News be without a little rap? Kanye West is being sued this week over allegedly sampling a 1985 song for his hit single “Good Life”. Dayna Staggs (aka D’Mystro) is suing Mr. West and his record label, Roc-a-fella, for copyright infringement. The presiding judge is Peter Messitte. D’Mystro says he wrote the song when Kanye was only 6 years old. He says he’s offended by the vulgarity of “Good Life” and that the image painted by the song damages his reputation. Chelsea Clinton missed an opportunity. She could have answered a student question at Butler University by saying that her mother's decision to stay with her father after the Lewinsky affair shows Hillary's strength and commitment to family. Instead, Chelsea told him to MYOB. Heather Locklear got bad news. Her ex, Richie Sambora, was busted for driving under the influence while he had their daughter, Ava, in the car. Want to bet on whether there will be new custody arrangements? Lindsay Lohan got a job. In a movie about Charles Manson. Be happy for her. Robin Williams' wife, Marsha, filed for divorce. Williams had no immediate humorous retort. George Clooney did Kentucky proud. In Louisville, he explained that he's just like his fellow Kentuckians, only famous. ... And rich. And handsome. And talented. (Those last three are my words, not his.) Demi Moore looked fabulous everywhere she went as she promoted her new movie Flawless. She's the poster child for aging well. Paris Hilton said she loves South Africa and West Africa. "They are both great countries."

Case in point, the “celebrity relationship.” Just like girls shouldn’t starve themselves to look like what they see on a magazine cover, every day couples shouldn’t attempt to live life like the kissy face stars that grace the pages of US Weekly. In a world that is based off of glossy ads, one involved in a relationship now would be surprised to find that smiling infamous couples in the photos we see don’t always signify a happy twosome. I guess what I’m trying to get at is, even if he can’t buy you a new penthouse for your birthday, or if she can’t get you those season tickets to your favorite sports team, you might just be surprised to find that you are a lot happier than they are. The grass isn’t always greener. Take a look… Chace Crawford and Carrie Underwood: After a whirlwind of a courtship the two who just got together this past July, recently had their reps announce their “amicable” break-up. I guess she couldn’t sing her way into his heart. Robin Williams and wife Marsha Garces: This one kinda tugs on your heart a little bit, and just goes to show you that even marriages that were once thought to go the whole 9 yards can’t even make it in the “biz”. Married in 1989, after 19 years of marriage the two filed for divorce. Reese and Ryan: After being an item for nearly a decade, the two decided to formally separate in October of 2006. Later after filing “irreconcilable differences” they were divorced. This one was sad, the couple who always seemed like the anti-Hollywood pair couldn’ t even handle the pressures of the spotlight. Rumors formulated on magazine pages and on entertainment television of extra marital affairs, nothing was ever confirmed. Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey: I think we all pretty much watched this couple unfold on MTV’s “ The Newlyweds.” A cute sitcom that broke down he daily grind of this pop couple. This sad break-up came at the end of 2005 to the shock of all those that had grown to love them. Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams: This is just sad. Approximitly 4 months prior to Ledger’s tragic death the two split up. After the news of his death, Michelle released a statement stating, ” I have lost my soul mate.” Rumors circulated after the stars death that the two would have definatly rekindled their romance had he had been given more time. Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora: This “Jersey boy” did his wife of over 10 years, Heather Locklear wrong. After citing “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for their split, Sambora started dating his ex-wife’s best friend, fellow actress, and fellow Hollywood divorcee, Denise Richards. That’s just wrong. I am not trying to beat this sore subject over the head, but I believe that our society as a whole is starting to think that the way celebrities handle their relationships and live their lives is the social norm. The truth of the matter is that it couldn’t be further from the truth. They might be normal human beings in their private lives but their lifestyles are anything but normal. Enjoy the relationship that you are in and never base what you have on what you see on the TV. Like I stated earlier, the grass isn’t always greener:) Till next time…

I guess that’s what you get after 19 years of marriage. The two have a daughter, Zelda, and a son, Cody. Irreconcilable differences is the official reasoning here. First they were fighting over their daughte, Suri’s birthday party and now sources report that Katie is exhausted by Tom and that she spends most of her day trying to stay awake.
