Today's Daily Wrap Up: Kidman gives birth, Smith takes box office, Bozo passes

Hmm...may need to create a version 3.1 of this look we have going on here. If so expect it soon. Otherwise, onto the news: Clav Note: What the hell? I just got used to version 3.0... Nicole Kidman gives birth to baby girl Kirby: So sometime in the near future we'll all be meeting a little girl named Sunday and saying how great a country music star/actress she is until she eventually becomes the crack cocaine snorting fucked up kid that we all know she'll be. Or disappears like Dakota Fanning...where the fuck is she? Clav: The baby's name is "Sunday Rose Kidman Urban." Post-Modern poetry never sounded so bad. Hancock takes top spot at the box office despite reviews Kirby: SPOILER: I'm not surprised. Clav: SPOILER: I'm thoroughly unsurprised. Larry Harmon, aka Bozo the Clown, passes at age 83 Bozo in his classic act. Kirby: I used to watch Bozo on WGN back in the day. I remember this game where you could win like $100 if you could throw a ping pong ball into all of these cups. I could've done it...I could've had the kick ass stereo system AND $100...but no, he had to go and die... Clav: I once watched an episode where the kid punched Bozo and he just tried to play it off as nothing. No lie. Guy on '24' thinks his role as black prez will help Obama Kirby: ...I'm sorry...give me a few...I can't stop laughing at the thought of a fictional character having an impact on actual politics... Clav: Wait, does he mean the "leading the nation" part or the "getting fatally shot in the throat" party? Friends: The Movie not in talks or production, mere rumor Kirby: Damn. I wanted to see how Joey continued his life. Wait...wasn't there a TV show about that? Clav: It's in moments like these that I know God is there, watching over us all. Now if he'd just take care of that asshole Josh Groban. Abba will never perform on stage again Kirby: Considering the only song I know is the homoerotic Mamma Mia, this is no loss to anyone. Except fans of homoerotic songs... Clav: Further proof of God? You bet. Not that ABBA wasn't good for what they were, it's just nobody's good old and wrinkly. Stones, take note. Osbournes head back to TV as variety show hosts Kirby: Unless this variety show features Ozzy ending the show by biting off the head of a random animal, I'll pass. Clav: Further proof of God? You- Wait a minute, what the fuck? Clinton (Bill) to be featured on Elvis Costello show Kirby: Reports are also telling us that he'll be wearing a "Hillary 2008" pin while on the show and talk about his wife's campaign, which apparently he is not aware has ended. Clav: ... There's a SUNDANCE channel? And they put Elvis Costello on it? I feel like there are better "worthless has beens" who you can use, guys. I mean, Costello is still kind of cool... Barrymore and Long (Barrylong?) are no more Boobs always win over a guy...unless he's gay Kirby: They actually said she might like PCs...they actually used that joke...that was my joke...bastards...go die like Bozo... Clav: Aww, at least he won't lose any of the full resolution of Barrymore's wondrous breasts on his Macintosh. Too bad he's masturbating to those pictures for the foreseeable future. Steve Irwin's daughter to get own doll Kirby: Also to be released with the doll is a Steve Irwin with Stingray action figure, including stingray action and underwater diving gear. Hole for sting ray tail not included, please use a small knife to create said hole. Do so under supervision of a parent, and do not go near stingrays for they might actually kill you like they did Steve Irwin, even if there's a very small possibility of it happening. Clav: OK readers (3), so is there a problem, or is there a problem, when I, Clav, think a joke is way out of line? Just wondering. I mean, come on, the girl's name is BINDI for fuck's sake. Aren't there a thousand jokes we could've made about that instead? I mean, shit, we're talking about a guy who owns a Miley Cyrus T-Shirt here...

Three-dimensional mapping of the ocean floor, which must happen before any drilling, could take up to two years, Strive said. If a promising site is found, engineers must drill up to three miles below the ocean surface to extract the oil or natural gas. And it will take years before the company begins producing anything at the site -- and there is no guarantee of success. A company can have as much as $4 billion invested and a wait of up to five years before seeing any return on the investment, a 2006 Congressional compromise that allows drilling on 8.3 million acres more than 125 miles off the Panhandle -- an area that had been covered by the moratorium, which was enacted out of environmental concerns. In exchange, the state got a no-drilling buffer along the rest of its beaches. In March, four companies -- Australia-based BHP Billiton Petroleum Deepwater Inc., Houston-based Anadarko E&P Co., Shell Offshore Inc. and Italian oil and natural gas company Eni SpA -- purchased leases on 36 Gulf of Mexico tracts under the 2006 compromise. Some companies had leases to drill off the Panhandle before the 1981 moratorium. They were grandfathered in when the moratorium passed because they were already actively exploring in their lease areas. The Interior Department estimates there could be 18 billion barrels of oil and 77 trillion cubic feet of natural gas beneath the 574 million acres of federal coastal waters that are now off-limits. ============================================================================== TOPIC: Beer up another $1 for case http://groups.google.com/group/misc.invest.stocks/browse_thread/thread/ecd25ec8b12d2f04?hl=en ============================================================================== == 1 of 1 == Date: Sat, Jul 5 2008 10:04 pm From: "catalpa" "Lawyerkill" <Lawyerkill@aol.com> wrote in message news:78165d65-ea1e-446b-9d07-4f8393ddfba9@d1g2000hsg.googlegroups.com... Pocket of a Clown

I went out a few nights ago with an old co-worker for a few rounds. Well, she’s not an old co-worker. She is older than I am, but I wouldn’t call her “old”. Let’s just say she is a former co-worker. We meet every few months and usually head to a wine bar and knock back a few sniff, sip and swallow. Yes, I’m still talking about vino! I wish I had gotten the name of the bottle we had, but I didn’t. It was a great red - a blend. We talked a little about the old place of employ (well, mine - she still works there). We talked about Denton and my ring…….which meant I had not seen her since we got those last October. We chatted about travel, her kids, my cats and various other things. …and lord knows how we got on the subject, but we touched on clowns. Oh wait, I remember. It was about my trip to Vegas….then it went into Cirque du Soleil….which led to the real circus…which led to clowns….and how nobody truly likes them (speak now or forever hold your peace if you do). My anti-clown feelings were solidified with Poltergeist. …and time and time again, I’ve heard that was a tipping point for many grease-painted, red-nosed, wig-wearing, horn-tooting haters. Then Kathy said - ‘try going a week without a clown reference coming up’. Kath said at least once every week something about a clown comes up - and it has for years. I told her I would keep an eye out for this trend. Not 48 hrs later - I get this! Poor Bozo! I already sent Kathy and email damning her to hell for putting me on this path. I’ll keep you all posted on if this goes on weekly. I expect you will all to do the same to me. Song by: Dwight Yoakam

    They’re Laughing in Heaven

    http://www.slushpile.net/index.php/2008/07/04/theyre-laughin...
    151 days ago in SlushPile.net · Authority: 45

I had a challenging day of conference calls yesterday. When it was finished, my back hurt from being hunched over the desk for eight hours and my ear buzzed from the headset I wear during these calls. I put my cellphone in a drawer and went out to dinner and to a movie. Late last night, I went to send an email and saw a link on CNN that invited readers to share their Bozo memories. I figured it was giving people a chance to recount embarrasing tales of falling down or putting their foot in their mouth. I thought it referred to the general connotation of being clownish. After sending my email, I went back to CNN to look at that article. And then I saw this headline above, one that I hadn’t noticed the first time. “Bozo actor dead at 83.” And a bad day got immensely worse. Over the last year, I had gotten to know Larry Harmon, the man who owned the rights to Bozo for more than fifty years. He was a kind man, always smiling, who truly loved life, people, and his country. Maybe someday I’ll be able to describe him without falling back on old cliches that people always spout whenever someone passes away. But for right now, all I can think of are those cliches. And they’ll have to do because they do apply here. He was an inspiration to the power of positivity. I spoke to him on the phone a few days before his unfortunate death. Just like always, his voice boomed over the line as he told jokes and performed impersonations. At the age of 83, he had suffered from some of the various health issues that creep up at such ages. But he never showed any decline in energy or laughter. He always smiled great big grins, with his mouth open and teeth shining, while his eyes beamed. My thoughts and prayers are with the Harmon family. This is sad, sad news. But the kind people in heaven better be ready. Because Bozo’s coming and they’ll soon be rolling with laughter.

Bozo Actor Kaput and Senator Helms Burns in Hell

Guess which one is worth mourning? The other is not even worth a link. Jesse Helms was an asshole of metaphysical proportions. I recall an "artist" who drew the face of Senator Helms on his penis and then videotaped it. Quite funny. Can't find it, but the Music Box Theatre showed the movie years ago.
