Evo Morales Uses Bolivian Presidency to Lauch Football Career
http://www.theoffside.com/world-football/evo-morales-uses-bo...Evo Morales Uses Bolivian Presidency to Lauch Football Career By: Daryl | 2 Comments http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIvimsP97sk One of the great things about being President of Bolivia is that you get to play a lot of football. Just ask Evo Morales. Seems like every other week Il Presidente is taking part in some sort of exhibition game, like the recent high altitude friendly involving Diego Maradona (above.) Now Morales has gone one step further and signed for La Paz-based amateur Bolivian second division side Litoral. He’s only a reserve player, and at 47 years old I think it’s safe to say Morales is well past his prime. Still, having the President of the country on your books can’t hurt, right? Mr. President, Soccer Player
http://www.linkbanana.com/2008/03/27/mr-president-soccer-pla...Mr. President, Soccer Player I’ll leave the explanation to Foreign Policy’s Passport: Evo Morales, Bolivia’s populist president, has signed up with a minor league soccer team in La Paz. The 47-year-old will be a reserve player for the team Litoral, which hopes to earn a spot in Bolivia’s top professional league next year. Morales was once a standout player for a local cocoa grower’s team and as president, has been an outspoken critic of the worldwide ban against high-altitude soccer games.

Couple Quickies
http://pundor.wordpress.com/2008/03/27/couple-quickies-2/The editorial staff here at Um has once again found itself in the weeds with a real commitment. So, in the interest of pressing deadlines, we revive our Couple Quickies feature: –The Guardian is reporting that Bolivian President (and all-around awesome duder) Evo Morales has signed on to play with a professional (albeit minor league) La Paz soccer team. We endorse this. –The American Journalism Review’s Carl Sessions Step thinks that it might be “time to panic” about the state of his profession and suggests a few ideas that might help turn things around. We also endorse this. Paper time!
