Awesome
http://superhappyfuntimeblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/awesome.ht...Dow down more than 200 points, Nasdaq and S&P down 2.3%, in reaction to global slowdown. So the bailout passes and things still go down. Pretty cool. Stupid politicians.

The latest economic victim: Fido
http://www.billingsgazette.net/h/blogs/ychromosome/?p=1008So the historic economic bailout, or if you prefer the more politically-correct title “rescue,” as jumped through all the necessary hurdles. There’s no money to pay for it, but that didn’t stop those adjustable mortgage rate homebuyers, so why should it stop our government? Anyway, it appears we are no better off this morning than we were last week, and now the nosediving economy is forcing some people to drop the money-pit that is the family pet. In the last six months, seven domestic dogs have been discovered abandoned in Nockamixon State Park in Pennsylvania, and officials believe it is the result of owners not being able to afford them anymore. We have a dog, and with the exception of the required vaccinations, he really isn’t that expensive to keep. I think that if your dog is dragging you down financially, perhaps your dog has a few luxuries that are not necessary. Our dog gets fresh water straight from the tap and dry dog food that comes in a big sack for about $15. He gets his required shots and is licensed, and any grooming takes place in the back yard. Most family budgets have some room for adjustment, and I’d imagine some pet expenses are not necessary in some homes. Besides, leaving a dog at a park is just lazy and cruel. Take them to a shelter, or maybe just treat them like a dog instead of a house guest.

Stock Cruch Deepens on Monday Open
http://holyworldwide.com/dustinhedrick/?p=483Stocks were in for a bruising Monday after a deepening financial crisis in Europe heightened worries about a global economic slowdown. It seems that the US is finally going to have to realize that our decisions have affected the world and we are going to have to think globally for a fix. I actually am glad that we will not be able to just go inward, fixing our issues and forgetting the world. This growth in concern worldwide is a call for the US to both take responsibility for its global impact and do what is necessary as a neighbor in the world community to help its fellow neighbors. We must act responsibly for our lack of oversight and moral decadence. What we are seeing is an unprecedented event. And we must take unprecedented action! read more | digg story Share This

One-Liner: We need another bailout now!
http://www.williamkwolfrum.com/2008/10/06/one-liner-we-need-...Well, that first bailout doesn’t seem to be working. Let’s try giving banks $700 trillion this time. That should save the country. –WKW

Palm Warns of Q2 Loss, Nobody Surprised
We had heard last week that Palm was planning some layoffs for the holidays, and although we don’t have the number of pink slips being handed out, recent warning of second quarter losses indicate that they hope to shave off $20 million in expenses in order to stay afloat.
