    Strength of Schedule

Every week, once each team on our schedule has completed their game, I'm going to link out to the game recap from Rivals. This should keep you in tune with what our strength of schedule looks like. Central Michigan defeated Eastern Illinois 31-12. South Carolina defeated N.C. State 34-0. Arizona State defeated Northern Arizona 30-13. Alabama defeated Clemson 34-10. Tennessee lost to UCLA 27-24. Vanderbilt defeated Miami (OH) 34-13. LSU defeated Appalachian State 41-13. Florida defeated Hawaii 56-10. Kentucky defeated Louisville 27-2. Auburn defeated Louisiana-Monroe 34-0. Georgia Tech defeated Jacksonville State 41-14. My plan was to plug in the Tennessee score after their game and talk about how our only opponent with a loss is the team that we beat. Naturally Tennessee proceeded to melt down and find a way to lose to UCLA. Still our schedule strength is looking good so far.

Oregon QB Costa out for season (AP)

    http://betting77.com/oregon-qb-costa-out-for-season-ap/

Oregon QB Costa out for season (AP) You're browsing: Home Oregon QB Costa out for season (AP) Oregon quarterback Nate Costa will be out for the season after surgeons repairing a torn meniscus in his left knee also found a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The sophomore injured the knee in a noncontact drill in the week before the Wednesday surgery, which the team had hoped would allow him to play part of the season. Miami opens new home with rout (AP) There’s a giant inflatable helmet that the Miami Hurricanes are supposed to run through before every game, a tradition that dates back longer than anyone could remember. Work crews couldn’t get it pumped up Thursday night. Alas, that was the closest thing Miami had to a major problem in its Dolphin Stadium debut. Spurrier wins 16th straight opener (AP) Steve Spurrier just can’t avoid quarterback controversies. South Carolina’s coach had intended since April for junior Tommy Beecher to lead the Gamecocks. But after Beecher threw four interceptions in his first start and backup Chris Smelley led three fourth-quarter touchdown drives in South Carolina’s 34-0 win over North Carolina State on Thursday night, Spurrier’s opened things up under center… Stanford holds off Oregon State 36-28 (AP) As Darrell Catchings reached the ball toward the goal line, it appeared Oregon State was on its way to a memorable comeback. Then Taylor Skaufel knocked it loose for a touchback and Stanford survived a thrilling season-opening victory. Catchings’ fumble in the final seconds was one of two bizarre plays in the south end zone that made sure Stanford would not waste Toby Gerhart’s stellar return from… Lou Holtz Weekend Preview ESPN Video: Lou Holtz on the Tennessee vs. UCLA and his Notre Dame prediction. Meyer praises backfield of No. 5 Gators (AP) Coach Urban Meyer called his running backs pathetic, trash and inadequate during his first three seasons at Florida. He threatened to play without a tailback two years ago and turned most of the running game over to quarterback Tim Tebow and receiver Percy Harvin last season. He expects things to be very different this fall. Clark relishes chance to start at quarterback for Penn State Daryll Clark called his father after getting the word. Then some text messages started coming in. Baylor opens Briles era against Wake Forest Art Briles keeps saying it’s not about him. But all eyes will be on the Baylor coach when the Bears usher in a new era by playing host to Wake Forest at 7 tonight at Floyd Casey Stadium. NCAA Game Summary - NC State at South Carolina Columbia, SC (Sports Network) - Mike Davis ran for 101 yards and a touchdown to lead the South Carolina Gamecocks to a 34-0 victory over the NC State Wolfpack in non-conference play. Morning Paper: Boise State football links 8/29

We’re glad college football’s back and all, but we’d be happy if we never saw South Carolina and NC State play again. On the other hand, we’ll take Pac-10 football any day of the week. Game day is tomorrow! Here are today’s links: Ian Johnson named to Doak Walker list [ISZ] Idaho’s Deonte Jackson and Nevada’s Luke Lippincott also chosen. Aaron “Gumby” Tevis feature story [Press-Tribune] Sounds like Colt Brooks to us. Dave Southorn expects 200 yards passing from Moore [Press-Tribune] Also expects Dippin’ Dots in the media lounge. Idaho State’s price tag for a blowout: $225,000 [Statesman] They might even leave with swag bags full of Carl’s Jr. coupons and Idaho potato plush toys. Kellen Moore jerseys on sale [Blue & Orange Store] Now there’s a good, long-term investment. Idaho State coach excited to play Broncos [Arbiter Online] Probably because he doesn’t actually have to be on the field. Idaho State coach also does not expect to win [Sporting News] Sounds like a reasonable guy. Idaho’s keys to victory against Arizona [Daily Wildcat] Longest list ever.
