Yes, we're a day or so late, but only in the belly of the celebrity-industrial complex that is People magazine does Sarah Jessica Parker's hat make news. Flash: That barnyard on her head at Monday's world premiere of Sex and the City in London is being touted as "quite brave of her" according to the spokewoman for milliner Philip Treacy, who came up with this wackadoo design. Parker reportedly had no idea what Treacy was planning and first saw the hat about two hours before the premiere. Notes Treacy's spokeswoman: “It’s the most beautiful crazy hat and it’s so great that she wore a hat to a British premiere. The hat is such a quintessentially English idea, but it was done in such a Carrie Bradshaw way.” Over at the New York Post, they rounded up fashionistas for an emergency judgment session and declared it officially awesome. "This is the fashion equivalent of getting a master's at Harvard. Seriously. There is no awkwardness, no discomfort. It's costume-y, but it's costume-y in the most fabulous way," celebrity stylist Robert Verdi told the Post with a straight face. We like how Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Catrall look throughly thrilled to be standing next to SJP. We're sure they're mentally trying to will her away from the group. At least Cynthia is trying to draw attention to her battle with breast cancer. [Photo: Getty Images] Source and source

Huh. I'm not sure what to make of the butterfly garden/peacock graveyard perched atop her head, but I gotta give her credit for gumption. This kind of courage has not been shown since the Bjork swan dress incident of 2001. People.com has the story on SJP's hat.
