Are the Superdelegates starting to support Obama?

    http://www.blogs.uni-osnabrueck.de/americanstudies/2008/05/1...

Since neither of the two remaining Democratic candidates is likely to win the decisive number of 2,025 delegate votes in the remainig six primaries (today: West Virginia), the Superdelegates will have to decide who will become the Democratic candidate. In the past, Mrs. Clinton seemed to have their support but at the moment, more and more Superdelegates start to support Mr. Obama. This might be the critical point in this year’s process of choosing a Democratic candidate. >> Video on CNN.com >> Report on CNN.com

We collect handbags and shoes, Obama collects delegates and superdelegates

    http://www.polichicksonline.com/2008/05/obama-leads-in-super...

Know the Dem's delegate count? Well now you will! Barack Obama has led in pledged delegates (the ones that candidates win in primaries) the whole time. Currently, he has 1592 of these suckers, while Hillary Clinton has just 1424. Each candidates needs 2025 delegates to win the nomination, but there are only 217 pledged delegates left in the remaining contests. So both candidates come up short. Enter the super delegates and all their drama... You probably know by now that super delegates are basically party bigwigs, like senators and governors and stuff, who can vote for either candidate for any reason. By any reason, we mean voting for Barack because he's got a mean jump shot or voting for Hillary because her make up is nice is allowed by the rules. Really super delegates are supposed to vote for the candidate best able to win the election, but they don't have to. (Super delegate status + political ego = doing whatever the hell they want) Anyway, at the start of the Dem's contest, Hillary was up in super delegates by 100. But as of Friday, Barack has rolled up on her and taken the lead. New score? Barack 266 and Hillary 262. So what's the big deal? Well, since the super delegates will decide this contest because there aren't enough pledged delegates for either candidate to win, it's a big deal that the majority seem to roll with Barack. Also, from a catch up standpoint, this is huge. We mean, imagine that you're watching the SuperBowl and your team is down about 60 points at in the 4th quarter. They are so going to lose, right? No point in watching to the end, right? Well, not if Barack is that team's tight end. He'll run that ball to the endzone a few times and even that score up just in the nick of time. And then do this dance in the endzone.
