Top Ten Tactics for Driving Blog Traffic
Blogs are everywhere now. As a staple of Internet marketing, it seems every site has one, but not every site is leveraging its blog to the full potential. These tips will make sure your blog does what it is supposed to: bring in traffic!
Frequent Posts
"Frequent” is a highly subjective term but most blogging experts recommend posting daily. Some blogs, especially those who focus on industry news, will post between three to five times a day. Once a week would be the bare minimum. The worst thing you can do is let your blog languish. Your inattentiveness is noticed by would-be customers and subscribers.
Networking
Blogging is good for more than just bringing in search engine traffic. It is also the perfect tool for building back-links. By reading, commenting on and interacting with other sites in your niche, you build back-links. To be effective, you should strive for at least 100 back-links from blogs in your niche. This will take some time, but will be well worth your effort.
Guest Posting
By posting on other blogs related to yours, you borrow on the traffic of other blogs and gain recognition. Ask every blog in your niche if you can provide a guest post. You will gain traffic and build important relationships with others in your industry. Do one at a time, lest you become overwhelmed. Blogs love to get free content from guest posters.
Use Images
While images do not always make sense in every single post, they should be used whenever possible. Upload images to your site and post them instead of posting a URL to the original. Select striking photos or animations related to your post. Be sure to tag your images with the keywords that match your content to bring in image search traffic.
Keywords
By placing the appropriate keywords in your post titles and the first paragraph of the post, you ensure the search engines see your post as relevant to the topic. While tagging the posts with keywords is not as valuable, the jury is out on whether this is useless altogether. It can’t hurt, so you may as well use them.
