I really, really want Swurl to be something useful. For those who do not know what Swurl is, is a lifestreaming app that does a beautiful job of displaying all of your internet activity in one place. The timeline view of Swurl is facinating, it really does a great job of visually representing your online life in a pretty calendar. …

Learning tools for 2008/2009… revised!
http://andremalan.net/2008/09/learning-tools-for-20082009-revised/So my last post was a bit premature. Here are some of the revisons to the plan: 1) OneNote has failed me. It worked so well in my previous classes, but I am finding it useless at the moment. Why? Well the lectures are carried out differently. In my previous classes the PDFs required a lot of diagrams and annotations… OneNote handled that perfectly. …

My learning tools for 2008/2009
http://andremalan.net/2008/09/my-learning-tools/So I’ve now had a week of classes. It feels great to be learning again after 8 months of solid work. Since I last wrote a similar post to this I have a gained a much better perspective on all the tools out there and know what works for me and what doesn’t. …

FeedWordPress Widget: If you blog it, it is no dream
http://jimgroom.umwblogs.org/2008/11/16/feedwordpress-widget...matter where they are hosted, they just need a valid feed), which in turn would be automatically entered into FeedWordPress and make the population of an aggregation site simple…it has arrived in the form of the Add Links Widget. Disco!!! Thanks to Andre Malan and Vince Ng, who conceptualized and executed this widget beautifully, the widget works fine and I have included it three places so far: And on the UMW Blogs Clubs and Organizations blog, so that any club or organization associated with UMW can drop

FeedWordPress: A Widget Wish
http://jimgroom.umwblogs.org/2008/11/12/feedwordpress-a-widg...it provides us with the ability to incorporate and re-publish sites with RSS feeds that are outside the UMW Blogs environment. All very cool, EDUGLU here we come, yadda, yadda, yadda. My wish now is to do something similar with FeedWordPress to what Andre Malan already has done for BDPRSS. Namely, create a widget extension for the FeedWordPress plugin that will allow you to have an “Add RSS” widget which provides a field on the front page of any blog so that people can add their feed (for the whole blog or a tag or category), and

How To Use: UBC DC++ RezHub
http://www.eastwoodzhao.com/how-to-use-ubc-dc-rezhub/ve been getting searches like these lately: ubc dc++ address connect to dc++ at ubc fast file sharing ubc using dc++ ubc ubc dc++ connection address ubc dc++ hub Here’s how to access it. According to Andre: Don’t worry, there is a way to get around the bandwidth limits that they place on us. Direct file sharing does not take up bandwidth and there is a big network in residence. You just need a client like DC++ (there is a Linux version for Ubuntu).

Tale of the FeedWordPress Tape
http://wpmued.org/2008/09/03/tale-of-the-feedwordpress-tape/plugins which makes me nervous. We need to support these folks, and help them develop it out, or contribute accordingly. So, there it is. FeedWordPress is about as close as we’ve come to realizing the syndication bus in major way, mad props to Andre Malan for turning me onto it again at Norther Voice this past February, and if anyone has any ideas for making it work a bit more consistently don’t be shy. Oh yeah, one more thing. The BDP RSS widget Andre Malan
