Bernard Chapais, an anthropologist at the University of Montreal, specializes in studying primate social behavior. He’s recently put out a book titled, “Primeval Kinship: How Pair-Bonding Gave Birth to Human Society.” In his book he argues that differences in kinship between human and non-human primates can all be pinpointed down to difference in emphasis on pair-bonding. …
