Between the Pond and the Woods
About five years ago, my dear, adorable mom began showing scary signs of memory loss. Over time her condition grew worse and I brought her to live with me at my writing retreat in the Pocono Mountains. While caring for her in a beautiful natural setting, I did plenty of research to make sure she got access to the best possible medical treatments and services. In the fall of 2011, I began writing articles that summarized my interviews with medical professionals, social workers, and other caregivers of people with dementia. These published pieces form the core content of my site, Between the Pond and the Woods. The site now has over 1400 readers on its companion Facebook page where many caregivers write in to get support and information that helps them care for their loved ones with dementia.
