The scandal-plagued members of the 110th Congress have been something of a motley crew. They've come from north, south, east and west, the House and Senate, red states and blue. They've -- allegedly, of course -- inserted shady earmarks into bills, shaken down land developers, engaged in "very serious …

Iraq Money Faces More Delays in the House
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/capitol-briefing/2008/05/iraq_money_faces_more_delays.html"My patience is growing thin," Senate Appropriations Chairman Robert C. Byrd (D-W. Va.) growled today, and he wasn't referring to the typically glacial pace of the World's Greatest Deliberative Body. Instead, Byrd was looking askance across the Capitol at House Democratic leaders, who have been dragging their feet on one of the most important bills Congress will deal with this year. …

News portal: politics best aggregator of the net
http://politics.nuovoportale.commore help for their families. If this country gave back to wounded troops even a fraction of the commitment and service that it has received from them, they will be well cared for. Why is this so hard for Congress to comprehend? In the piece titled “The Costs of War” from the WaPo, dollars and cents make up the whole discussion about Iraq. With all of Schumer and Reid’s ranting and raving…and calling President Bush “King George”…nowhere is there a mention of what MORE the Army can do about the problems it

Think Progress » Home Page
http://thinkprogress.orgwas part of the late D.C. Madam’s records, CREW asked the Senate Ethics Committee to investigate whether it amounted to “improper conduct which may reflect upon the Senate.” Today, the committee informed Vitter that it was dismissing the complaint against him because the incident occurred before he ran for the Senate. CREW responded by saying that “the Senate Ethics Committee has once again done what is does best: nothing.”

Iraq News (9 May)
http://ltnixonrants.blogspot.com/2008/05/iraq-news-9-may.htm...been botched in the media in the last month. This includes Hasnawi being killed in Sadr City and Al-Douri being captured in Salah ad-Din (both would've been good news, but were incorrect). Why does the media like to fuck with us so bad. The Ugly: The GI Bill didn't make it through yesterday, despite tremendous bipartisan support. Something about Blue Dog Democrats...don't ask me how Washington works. Greyhawk over at Mudville Gazette highlights the political malaise associated with the GI Bill. Perspective on the diplomatic

Conveniently Misplaced
http://cruzweb.netI could have gotten into an argument with him about his response, as it wasn’t exactly what I was referring to. I don’t care that he gets angry about a bridge to nowhere. That’s not special, so do I. But I don’t get into it and scream “fuck you” to show how angry I am with other senators of the same party. That’s just rediculous, and he knew damn well what I was talking about and chose to ignore the basis of it and talk about how he’s angry with the status quo.

Pentagon: CIA Operative al-Muhajir Captured in Iraq
http://conspiracytheories.venuscommunity.com/pentagon-cia-op...actually a popular resistance against occupation. As well, it sends an upbeat message — never mind how deceptive, but then we’re talking about neocons here — as Senate Appropriations Chairman Robert C. Byrd declares his “patience is growing thin” over muddled Democrats, weighed down with a supplemental spending bill in the House designating more money be squandered in the Iraq and Afghanistan bottomless pits.
