In 2009 I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. Graves is “an autoimmune disorder that leads to overactivity of the thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism).” There is no cure. Seven months ago I had RAI, which is where you take a pill that kills your thyroid. I have gone from having a super-fast metabolism, to one that needs to be stimulated by medication. I knew that if I did not exercise regularly and really watch what I eat, I would easily gain weight. So I started to run.
