A day-by-day look at events, teams, and players that make up the history of American pro football. Founded on Oct. 24, 2009, this site springs from a life-long interest in pro football and its history. With this blog, I am highlighting one event from the history of pro football each day – some significant, others far less so, and others simply to focus on the exploits of a particular player or coach, but still a part of the overall story. I won’t restrict myself to the NFL, but of course to the pre-merger AFL, the three AFLs that existed before that, the AAFC of the 1940s, the World Football League of 1974-75, the USFL, the XFL, and the NFL's European (well, for most of its history) offshoot, the WLAF. There may occasionally be a “List of the Day” in place of an event, especially during the offseason, on days that don’t contain many events of interest (or just for a change of pace).
