My kids pick their TV shows. They even fast-forward to their favorite parts. But suppose they invested 10% of their attention in messages that irritated them, that challenged them to grow or granted them humility. By describing himself as a gadfly, Socrates claimed to provide that kind of irritation. Is it part of what every parent should provide? Please send me irritating ideas to post on this blog for any who appreciate challenge (and don't expect me to be quite so irritating the other 90% of the time).
