  1. Drawing Pictures

    http://terrydolson.net/blog/2008/05/09/drawing-pictures/

This article struck a chord with me. Science educators are exploring an innovative way to help students learn: drawing. This is something I have been experimenting with too. Here is a picture my students came up with earlier this year when we were reading Nietzsche’s “On the Geneaology of Morals.” …

  2. creativity and collaboration–LOEX 2008

    http://terrydolson.net/blog/2008/05/02/creativity-and-collaboration-loex-2008/

I didn’t expect to get information that would be so important to me at this conference for library instruction since that is not my field. But Laurel Ofstein from the Depaul Center for Creativity and Innovation spoke as a keynote and helped me to see a model for a work environment that SO appeals to me! We can and must CREATE a climate for creativity and collaboration. …

  3. Of birds and blogs

    http://terrydolson.net/blog/2008/05/02/of-birds-and-blogs/

That is a picture of the nest outside my window at home. I have become a bit obssessed with the bird family, watching the momma bird spread her wings to keep the rain off the eggs and snuggling down on them when it gets cold. But she abandons her job at the slightest movement, which is why I have such a good shot of those gorgeous blue eggs. …

    Learning In a Flat World

in blogs, Twitter, emails, and face-to-face conversations such that missing one piece does not mean missing the conversation totally. I attended Ruben Puentedura’s presentation on Networked Conversations yesterday at University of Richmond (thanks to Terry Dolson for the invite). It was fascinating to hear Ruben discuss his use of Twitter, blogs, and Ning sites for extending classroom conversations - and recognize that I had been a part of some of those conversations already, even though I was meeting Ruben for

    Only Thing To Fear…

    http://bwatwood.edublogs.org/2008/02/02/only-thing-to-fear/

At last week’s Educause Learning Initiative conference, they held an interesting session on Fear 2.0. Some videos and notes from this session can be found here. It reminded me of a blog post from last November that is still relevant, in which Terry Dolson notes: “The day after I read this {article on wired world in Parade magazine}, I went to a class at Godwin High School, where kids have had laptops in a one to one initiative since they

s frustrating at times to do all this thinking about teaching and to have such a better understanding (as well as more tools) than I ever had before yet to be without a class of my own. I’ll have the chance to work closely with Terry Dolson and her Core class next semester. We’ll see if that helps.
