  1. Gizmodo’s call against the Beta is right on!

    http://www.atmasphere.net/wp/archives/2008/11/22/gizmodos-call-against-the-beta-is-right-on

Gizmodo’s piece yesterday, A Call for Revolution Against Beta Culture is right on. Thanks to web 2.0 and our inclination towards participatory culture we seem far more accommodating of bugs today than would have been acceptable only a few short years ago. Finish the product design, test it and THEN release it. …

  2. Trying hard to like the N96

    http://www.atmasphere.net/wp/archives/2008/11/15/trying-hard-to-like-the-n96

For the past month or so I’ve been using the Nokia N96. I have the N96-1 which as Nokiaphiles know is the Euro edition so no 3G for the US. That has not been too much of an issue because I’ve had regular overseas trips. For the first time since I started writing about mobile technology I’ve been able to fully test the capabilities of a device in a very global context. …

  3. Nokia N96 now does Amazon Video on Demand

    http://www.atmasphere.net/wp/archives/2008/11/13/nokia-n96-now-does-amazon-video-on-demand

Amazon’s download service is now compatible with the Nokia N96 according to Amazon’s End User blog. This is a great addition to the BBC iPlayer - at least for UK users and something I will have to try in the next day or so. …

t out into the public every individual user might use the same exact device in so many different ways. This brings me to my feelings on Networks and Unlocked phones… I was wrong in my thinking that it was Stefan that said “Born Free” I had read it at atmaspheric endevours HERE I suggest that anyone reading this, go listen to anything that Jonathan has to say! In my opinion, the phone was meant to work as they designed it, with the ability to use add-ons… this is not the case when you purchase a device from the carrier, it seems crippled, a

s built-in. Only 1mm too small for a standard earphone jack, this presents a problem for E71 lovers, as they must either settle with the poor quality of the bundled headphones, or seek out a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter. Thanks to Jonathan Greene of Atmaspheric Endeavors (this guy finds all sorts of great stuff!), that search is made easier. It turns out, the JAVOedge 2.5mm to 3.5mm stereo adapter listed on Amazon as being for the Treo works great with the Nokia E71! This little accessory is also cheap, at $4 for a

to the experience on the iPhone (well the iPod touch). I also got a photo of the Google G1 next to the iPod touch. One of the quotes that I like about the differences between the iPhone and the Nokia N95 came from quoted by Josie Fraser. EDIT: original blog post from which the quote came and Ian’s blog posting which references it. You use the iPhone to consume content whilst you use the Nokia N95 if you want to create content. This I agree with owning both an iPod touch and the Nokia N95. If I want to watch video, list

    SIPping from the VOIP fountain

t allow for integration with other services so it isn’t exactly going to overtake the likes of Fring or Gizmo which do allow for that level of integration. At the same time it does interest me, if anything because Jonathan Greene raved about it (I think I am becoming a bit of a Jonathan Greene fanboy … apologies to Jonathan Greene …). You connect using your Ovi credentials (anyone else using Ovi?) which translate into Jabber credentials and you can add other Jabber users (including GTalk)
