Baseball: A Love Affair
http://www.memeticians.com/2008/04/baseball-a-love-affair.ph...fun from time to time. Thus far, I am the only one of three sons lucky enough to have a baseball nut as a significant other, but I can guarantee I’m not the last. Mind Over Matter Baseball, in general, is an enjoyable game from all aspects. It is a thinking man’s game, and there in lies the beauty of it. The players obviously have the most fun, but spectators can be involved almost as much as the manager, discussing what every position player should do with the ball before every pitch. A great baseball mind can do

Real Monday Morning Update
http://draynet.com/392/real-monday-morning-update/. is probably one of the top 10 most significant baseball players of the last 20 years, if not all time. Most american sports fans remember vividly the moment that he broke the record for consecutive games played in 1995, the event which some think saved baseball after the 1994 players strike. Opening Day should have been in Cincinnati!
http://commonsensepoliticalthought.com/?p=2606, the first pitch of Opening day should always be in Cincinnati; the Reds are the oldest franchise in major league baseball, with the first fully professional team in 1869. And this year, the first regular season game was held between the Boston Red Sox and the Oakland Athletics — in Japan! This is just wrong! I grew up listening to Al Michaels and Joe Nuxhall doing the radio play-by-play for the Reds on radio.

A Hard Goodbye - Part One
http://mvn.com/mlb-stats/2008/02/29/a-hard-goodbye-part-one/Around that time, Lopez had just served as the starting catcher during a Maddux start for the first time since September 8th, 1998 - a little over five years. Though I will be cherry-picking tidbits from the article, to read it in its entirety, click here. When asked about not pitching to Lopez, Maddux replied - “It’s nothing personal. I won a Cy Young with Javy. I like throwing to him.” Wow. What an arrogant snob. He clearly had a distaste for Lopez. I bet all of the skeptics will assert that
