Knitting on Impulse

What would happen if....? Exploring fibre and textile arts, designing knitwear, crocheting silver, "seeing" through my camera, and generally following the muse wherever it takes me in beautiful Whistler, BC, Canada.

Most intense show of the year: complete Living-room: furniture creatively rearranged to accomodate tree. Christmas tree: up and kid-safe decorations clumped lovingly amid the branches (breakables yet to come - that's my job.) Advent calendar pressies: purchased, wrapped, stuffed in the appropriate …

Purples - check.   Pinks/reds - check.    BTW - thanks for the responses to yesterday's post - I've been surprised by the preponderance of interest in lighter weight yarns for big projects.  A quick Ravelry check shows the numbers of patterns for fingering:sport:worsted to be approx. …

of the stocking, so this year I decided to give her a gift box full of stocking stuffers, just for her.  If she likes it, she can give the box back to me next year, and I'll fill it up again! The pattern is from the ever talented and amazing Ruth, who should be releasing this in the next little while.  It's wonderfully written - simple to follow, but creating a lovely and fast FO.  I used a stray ball of Elann's Peruvian Highland Wool,

    Unexpected Knitting Adventure

These were made out of Meillenweit and the colors are great, even if it was kind of “splitty” yarn to knit with. I just need to weave that last end in, and they’re ready to wear. Also finished? The fingerless mitts I tested for Ruth. Remember last week, when I said I had run out of yarn an inch from the end of the second? Well, I went back to the first one, ripped out the ribbing, and then finished the leaf-section of the second one with the blue, and then added the coordinating

Yesterday I saw bloggers enjoying easy projects while coping with nuclear powered cold viruses similar to the one that I've been "enjoying"... Knitting on Impulseon the west coast of Canada has been focused on the beauty of knit and purl stitches from the confines of her couch. Ysolda in Edinburgh with their sniffles has been doing garter stitch with soothingly red yarn in the midst of a cold, rainy Scottish

her travels around Europe. Yarn Hog - USA - a very talented knitter and entertaining writer who shares my aversion to spiders The Ravell'd Sleave - USA - a knitter, a voracious reader and a woman with a fun sense of humour....or is that humor. Knitting on Impulse - CANADA - a very talented, creative woman, living in Whistler. Check out her hand dyed yarn, the colourways are beautiful. And of course there are many more blogs that I enjoy reading.

hi if you see me there. I’ll be carrying a Vermont Public Radio shoulder bag and wearing one of these things. The photo is from last week, on my way to work.   One Response to “busy, busy, busy” Ruth Says: October 17, 2008 at 11:59 I love that photo - with the texture of the wall behind, it looks exactly like a painting. You may remember the Georgia O'Keefe flower in Friday's post and my wish for a yarn in that colorway. Well, as fate would have it, awhile ago I was enticed to by a beautiful pink yarn (I know you're surprised) from Ruth. The colors are a perfect match to the picture, a perfect match! How lucky is that? I think I have an idea what it will grow up to be and I know we'll live happily ever after, too. Ruth has a new online shop
