Essay: Eyes on the Prize - 11/19/2008
http://jackshow.blogs.com/jack/2008/11/essay-eyes-on-the-prize-11192008.htmlI started the seventh grade a week after Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous, “I have a dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial. Later, a teacher made us read it. I remember the part that struck me. “We cannot be satisfied,” Dr. …

Interview: Thomas Segrue - 11/19/2008
http://jackshow.blogs.com/jack/2008/11/interview-thomas-segrue-11192008.htmlWhen we think of the civil rights movement, images of Selma, Montgomery, or Birmingham come to mind. But there was another different, though equally intense, struggle going on in the North. Detroit native Thomas Segrue is a professor of history and sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. …

Michigan's Possible Nuclear Winter
http://wizardkitten.blogspot.com/2008/11/michigans-possible-...You think, well, that's just Brooks running his mouth again. That is the problem with Patterson; he tends to, let's say, exaggerate quite a bit. He's "colorful". No big deal. Except Jack Lessenberry used the same description - and it wasn't in the Metro Times, where he tends to let loose. Last night, I got a copy of the Center for Automotive Research’s new report on what it would mean to our economy if one or more of our domestic automakers were to go out of business.

The great ignored issue of the 2008 campaign
http://www.michiganliberal.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=13730Jack Lessenberry yesterday: Instead, the environment seems to have been largely ignored by the candidates this fall. Senator Obama has mostly reasonable and progressive positions on the environment. But he hasn’t talked about them very much. By and large, the Obama campaign

CD09: Knollenberg declines Lessenberry interview
http://www.michiganliberal.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=13734and just lets the person answer without trying to shout them down or trip them up in order to publicly embarrass them (he's not like Frank Beckmann, who actually used clearly edited clips to make the governor look bad on taxes last year). So, I can discern no explanation for this... We had hoped to speak with both candidates however, Congressman Knollenberg declined to be interviewed for this program. Peters gets time to talk about something he talks about and understands well, which is a forward-thinking energy policy.

Tim Walberg Goes Nuclear!
http://wizardkitten.blogspot.com/2008/10/tim-walberg-goes-nu...really not sure about Walberg, because everything that comes out of that man's campaign has been false. But he sure is good for a laugh. Thanks Tim! UPDATE: Senator Schauer talks to Jack Lessenberry in today's Essays and Interviews. Jobs and the economy are on his mind, give it a listen. Tim Walberg declined to be interviewed for the program. Guess he didn't have anything to say to the public...
