Well, many thanks to Aaron and Charlie for their advice and recommendations.  In the closing moments of the old tax year, I shot off an order and soon will be the proud owner of a Sony Reader.  I won’t see it till I get to Oakland, but hopefully it’ll be the solution to my problems. …

She’s home.  The doctors let her come home last night, but she’s still registered as a patient, so back today to see one more doctor (a supervising neurologist) who wasn’t available last night.  We know a bit about what’s not wrong with her: she’s been given all-clears by cardiologists, neurologists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and so on.  So what is wrong? …

    http://www.jonathanstrahan.com.au/wp/2008/06/29/project/

, and picked up speed as it raced over the hills and vales, and down forested lanes filled with automatomic servants. SF Signal: Mind Meld posts a cross-section of what some of the folks in the genre are discussing. Jonathan Strahan ruminates about being stuck in the eye. As a writer– a male, white, heterosexual writer (ooo– I’m seething with POWER! Do you see it? Do you see my vast raw, barely restrained…POWER! It’s a freaking grand sight! Let me tell you!)

MIND MELD: Is There Gender Imbalance in Genre Fiction Publishing?

    http://www.sfsignal.com/archives/006846.html

Much as a real friend, a true friend discreetly nudges you and mentions that you've got spinach between your teeth rather than let you keep talking away? Jonathan Strahan has talked about why he slipped on checking for gender bias in the Eclipse 2 ToC here. He has apologized and acknowledged the importance of concerns about gender issues. Instigated by the announced Table of Contents of Eclipse Two, recent weeks have seen a good deal of conversation regarding an overall lack of female contributers to anthologies and magazines and the supposed "genderblindness" of editors. As the only woman published in
