Women Supervisors: The Danger of Micromanaging
http://ms-jd.org/women-supervisors-danger-micromanagingWomen Supervisors: The Danger of Micromanaging Submitted by lawblogger Lately, I’ve started to wonder if women are more likely to be ineffective managers than men. I think, after mulling it over for a few days, that women (who we already know have to work harder to get into positions of power) might …

To Be A Woman In Law
http://kiwireese.sampasite.com/here-s-what-i-think/blog/To-B...Some propose that for this very same reason, women choose to practice public interest law, although many still maintain that women have a proclivity for the concerns handled in public interest (women’s rights, health care, etc.) (Ms. JD, http://ms-jd.org/index.php?q=why-do-women-dominate-public-interest). Studies show that “women are more likely than men to work in government, legal services, or public defender positions, public interest law positions, and nonprofit or education positions,” (NALP,

Young Lawyers Hope for a Better Balance
http://wfnetwork.bc.edu/blog/?p=41Our survey provides further evidence of a strong generational gap around balancing work and family—one that will impact the legal profession for years to come. In fact, over the past year, several law-student-run organizations (including Ms. JD and Building a Better Legal Profession) have sprouted up and dedicated themselves to changing the culture of the legal profession. The question now is how will law firms respond? Will they be able to deliver on the promise of family-friendly policies

internal marketing: tricking lawyers out of their pursuit of work/life balance?
http://theshark.typepad.com/weblog/2008/06/internal-market.h..., and as I reflected (and by reflected I mean waited for my dad to pick up the phone) on what a great guy my dad is, I thought about how ridiculous it is that I might someday also be a father (first step: “mutual assent”). But today I read an article about finding balance in work and family, and I realized that massive debt, immaturity, and an inability to master even the most basic life-skills, are not the only barriers to my future fatherhood.

http://emcpan.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html#673088240...see anything wrong with that, but she was appalled. I asked what they ought to wear and she said loafers or tennis shoes. How are ugly tennis shoes worse than flip-flops? Then she said they ought to wear more comfortable shoes generally. Given all the hullaballoo about whether women should just "make it work," I didn't want to point out that she could get away with the ugly/comfy squared-off loafers because she was much older and nobody expected her to wear heels every day.
