Starting in 1997 as the internet's first videogame database, SPOnG's mission is to catalogue every game produced for home consoles, computers and handhelds. In 2000 the site began publishing consumer and games industry news, expanding in 2003 to features, reviews and interviews. Still committed to its original mission, at the time of writing SPOnG has catalogued over 45,000 games including 35,000 items of cover art and more than 250,000 screen shots.
