Religion News Blog : religious cults, sects, world religions, and related issues
http://www.religionnewsblog.comDutch smokers are flocking to a religious movement known as “The Only and Universal Smokers Church of God” following a ban on tobacco smoking indoors. Michiel Eijsbouts, founder and “Smokelighter” of the church he founded in 2001, has insisted that the Dutch smoking ban in place does not apply to members of his church under national and European human rights legislation.

Untranslatable (Dutch) words
http://internationmusing.blogspot.com/2008/07/untranslatable...homesick, but the Brazilian connotation of the word doesn't cover 'homesickness'. Its more something like 'yearning'. There are several Dutch words which simple don't need to be translated like 'Apartheid'. And what about 'Kraken' (not a seamonster), 'Gedogen', 'Gedoogzone', 'krikken' etc. Some Dutch out there to help me out? I simple don't know how to explain these words, only the last one is easy but doesn't really cover the word/meaning....

Putting boobies on a pedestal
http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/2008/07/11/breast_sculpt...context matters. The Amsterdam sculpture was installed in the Red Light District, suggesting it might be a commentary on the objectification and commodification of women's bodies, not just one more example thereof. In the same area, there's also a large bronze sculpture of a prostitute -- head and all! -- by former sex worker Mariska Majoor, "meant to show respect to the millions of people around the world who earn their money in prostitution." In a neighborhood that offers not only sex for sale but a sincere monument

The World as We Know It
http://fractalenlightenment.blogspot.comSo from next month onwards, if you want to smoke a joint it has to be pure and not mixed with tobacco. This seems quite ironical because in a restaurant people come to eat, in a cafe to drink and in a coffee shops mainly to smoke pot. The ban on tobacco is presumably to protect employees from second-hand smoke, which makes them susceptible to diseases. Its a rather bizarre law, how could you smoke a joint, and not have tobacco in it? Employees at such coffee shops join the place knowing that there

Going Orange Crazy
http://cloggiecentral.blogspot.com/2008/06/going-orange-craz...red, white and blue. However unless you have lived in the Netherlands, made a visit during a National event or been to a football game where the Netherlands played you are probably a bit less familiar with their love of the colour orange. According to www.dutchamsterdam.nl the reason is as follows: Orange is the color of the Dutch Royal Family, which hails from the House of Orange. And as I mentioned in yesterday's post, with the arrival of the European Cup, the Netherlands has been going orange crazy. Houses,
