i bought these the other day thinking they were fresh almonds but not knowing any more than that. it turns out they are fresh green almonds which are only available for a few weeks each year. apparently they are eaten raw. and whole. that’s right, give them a wash and then bite in through that soft fuzzy green skin and into the nut. …

having made a few batches of my mum's easy vanilla ice cream i decided to vary things a little and make a fruit ripple version. 400g of mixed berries were warmed through until they started to burst. i then pushed them through a seive to remove any seeds, and swirled this through the latest batch of ice cream. …

    http://www.eattherightstuff.com/blog/2008/4/29/vegetables-beautiful-vegetables-2008.html

19-25 may is national vegetarian week here in the uk. as with last year, this is, i think, a perfect excuse to encourage food bloggers to share their favourite vegetarian recipes. “vegetables, beautiful vegetables” is an annual event where food bloggers around the world are invited to show off their skills at creating fantastic vegetarian dishes. …

    Paper Chef winners and more

    http://www.tomatilla.com/2007/10/paper-chef-winners-and-more...

so very good. But a choice must be made. So for nest single dish entry, the winner is Mrs Anderson (Heather) of Gild the Voodoolily for her chowder. Abby of eat the right stuff was a worthy runner up (and not a first time entrant as I had said) for her smoked aubergine and elephant garlic soup. And we also had Jonski Farms enter a burger, dip, almost-bengan bhartha combo. Hard as that decision was, the multiple entry was even harder, especially since the two entrants are two of my all time favorite food blogs ever. Both of them have won

    Presto Pasta Night #31

    http://onceuponafeast.blogspot.com/2007/09/presto-pasta-nigh...

in this week...well actually she was just a hair late last week and with Jewish Holiday fasting and feasting here...I didn't get to see it until Sunday. But enough excuses from me...Abby of Eat the Right Stuff brings some unique ingredients to this Linguine -Oak Roasted Cherry Tomatoes & Frozen Soy Beans. What do you think my chances are for finding them in Halifax? Another early entry is from Katie at Other People's Food with this absolutely spectacular Hazelnut Ricotta & Lemon Pesto from Bon Appetit. I did ear mark it myself, but never

    http://www.tomatilla.com/2007/09/roundup-for-paper-chef-25-h...

. She entered a Smoky Green Curry Seafood Chowder. This soup is very rich, complex and wonderful sounding. Another newcomer, Abby of Eat the right stuff, entered another soup, but very different, a smoked aubergine and elephant garlic soup which also sounds delicious but does come with a mild warning... The Belly Timber crew, aka MizD and ChopperDave, honored us by taking time out of a horrendously busy schedule to play in the kitchen and – as usual – come up with a
