I launched Give Us This Day Devotional on September 8, 2011. But in reality, I began writing it over 5 years ago as a daily devotional called Daily Bread. I noticed a lack of depth in other daily devotionals, and as I began reading through the New Testament using the Prayer Book lectionary, God inspired me to begin writing a devotional based on the lectio divina, the ancient way of meditatively, prayerfully reading the Bible. When God speaks, obey! So I began and chose to write a deeper devotional for every passage in the New Testament, in contrast to many devotionals that only deal with random verses. I also determined to write more than the few words most devotionals were offering and wanted to write in a way that was both theological and practical. So Give Us This Day is is part prayer, part meditation, part Bible study and Bible commentary, and part devotional. Look for the Give Us This Day books as they appear on Amazon!
