Cynthia Liu, PhD, is CEO/Founder of the online organizing and education news site K12NewsNetwork.com, a "MoveOn" for supporters of public education. In 2011, she received the BlogHer.com/HTC 2011 Innovator Award for co-producing the California School Funding Map Tool, a tool that shows the impact of statewide budget cuts on K-12 public education as sorted by school/state legislative district. K12NN also successfully mobilized parent activists to ask the governor to sign curriculum reform into law in California, and featured grassroots school board candidates who won against big money incumbents in local elections. Cynthia's been a political blogger since 2003 (and part of a women's group blog credentialed to cover the 2008 Democratic National Convention in 2008). She's currently a social media savvy mom to an elementary school kid & a strong advocate of the social web's ability to provide tools & information for maximum parent and civic engagement benefiting the nation's schools.
