The Starving Artist

Started in April 2012, The Starving Artist is a food blog devoted to the notion that you can eat well and be frugal without compromising style or flavor - all you need is a little creativity and a lot of sass. As a creative professional (I make my living as a composer for film and media) I have been cooking for myself and my friends in tiny kitchens on tiny budgets for years. My artistic nature combined with my frugal lifestyle have spawned a plethora of clever, wholesome dishes. This blog is a chronicle of these recipes with an eye towards invoking your own creativity by using what you have on hand and not apologizing for anything. I also post about my starving-artist-friendly food discoveries around Los Angeles - restaurants, coffee shops, food trucks, etc. I will even be sharing stories, tricks, and struggles from my weight loss journey. I've lost 60 pounds since 2010 and I did it as a starving artist: no expensive shakes or plans. For the starving artist, nothing is out of reach!
