The Wayfaring Stranger
I write under the name Riley Carson. I was born in an Asian archipelago, grew up gallivanting in scenic Switzerland and came into my teens in the California Valley. In my first five years of adulthood, I lived in seven different states. I am married to a pedantic, plaid-loving New England OIF veteran I call Darwin, who’s wanderlust matches mine. I am a citizen and military service member of the United States but I am an outsider to every society and in that sense, I am free. We need to think about the harder issues and tackle the tougher tasks. We have to give more attention to Condoleezza Rice, GEN David Patraeus, and Richard Dawkins than we do to Sarah Palin, Tyra Banks and Michael Moore. We need to care about the State of the Union more than we care about America’s Next Top Model.
