Affiliate Marketing Industry Growing Fast Despite Economic Downturn - Page 2
According to Weber, the internet allows anyone to create a niche content website, and once “you build a site with 1000s of pages of original content, you will be a major player traffic-wise…build up a large Facebook Fan base and subscriber list and you can garner even more advertising dollars. You can do you own thing with whatever niches you choose to focus on, since the Affiliate Marketing has 1000s of participating companies.”
“It opens up the door to a relatively untapped market for them and it guarantees results by paying on performance,” says Peter Klein, the General Manager of MediaWhiz, while talking about brands. MediaWhiz is one of the largest “Cost Per Action” networks, which provide affiliates which dozens of choices of products to promote on commission basis. They already represent several major companies including H&R Block, HSBC, GreenDot, Experian, AC Nielsen and DirecTV.
Klien says that brands are starting to query his company more and more, because while, “It is taking a good amount of time to educate and secure test budgets, but once those hurdles are overcome, the results typically speak for themselves.” He explains that most “results are within a week, no waiting or time needed to re-forecast budgets.”
This seems to be what I am hearing from those in the Affiliate and Performance Marketing industry: that the industry has matured enormously and many brands are starting to take a serious look at it and considering it a cornerstone in their media planning. “Performance marketing delivers real, measurable marketing results and successful campaigns are highly scalable,” exclaims Trayhorn. “That's an irresistible set of characteristics in the middle of a recession, and makes performance marketing an essential part of the marketing mix.”
