Eat My Words: Rename and Reinvent Your Business
Okay, so you’ve decided that you want to start your own business.
You’ve decided what you want to do, how you’re going to do it, and what your goals are for first year earnings.
You’re probably thinking that the easiest part of the business is coming up with a name.
That is a common misconception considering that what often sounds right in our heads does not always come out the way that we intended it.
That’s been proven by the good people over at Eat My Words. Their specialty is in helping businesses and their owners engage potential customers with the proper naming and branding.
In a hilarious conversation with Alexandra Watkins, Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Eat My Words, some of the strangest names they have worked with have ended up being the most successful.
“Some of these names are like what people would come up with playing drunken Scrabble because their names are train wrecks.” Alexandra laughed while speaking the name of a business called Vooza.
We spoke of the innovative tech startup called Vooza. One gathers that from the name another fun name like Google was attempted.
“There are so many startups that don’t put a lot of thought into their names. They are so focused on their core product that they forget that the name is really one of the most important parts of engaging their customer base.”
The San Francisco-based company has worked with a variety of other creatively named business such as; Spoon Me, a frozen yogurt shop that sells booty shorts with their name on them; The Pot Lady, a flower company that “Brings Flower Power to the People;” and last but certainly not least Hand Job, a nail and spa shop.
Eat My Words is a company that has an immense talent in taking a name that was a train wreck and rebranding it with a new one, or using the existing awkward name to engaging the public with fun taglines and different ways to engage their clients, particularly with the use of social media.
Eat My Words is launching a contest – it’s called the Eat My Words Startup Do-Over Contest. A mouthful, right? This is the perfect chance for business owners to get their opportunity to get that engaging business name they were meant to have.
