HashTip Launches Unique Service for Moms to Make Smart Buying Decisions
The New Jersey based social-commerce startup HashTip announced last week the launch of thier unique service that simplifies decision making for moms. The service works by aggregating tips, reviews and deals about kids products in once place to help moms make smarter purchasing decisions.
According to a recent study done by Scarborough Research, and published as an infographic on Mashable, 14% of all American mothers with at least one child blog about parenting or turn to blogs for advice. This translates into an enormous amount of content dispersed across a huge number of different websites and blogs. It also shows just how many moms out there turn to the social web for advice on products and service for their kids.
HashTip, who claims to make the purchasing process incredibly easy and fun for moms, uses a unique technology to bring together information about products and services to help narrow down choices, see reviews and find the best deals online automatically. The tips are curated "for moms, by moms" which differentiates it from other couponing and discount aggregator sites that simply list all deals and offers. Users can also create 'TipBooks' in different categories like food & beverages, toys & games or apps & video games.
"Moms have always shared tips," said Rohit Vashisht, HashTip's CEO. "But until HashTip, the recommendations they made and deals they found were getting lost because they were shared in one-on-one conversations within their immediate social circle. Now, moms can just tag or bookmark their tips from anywhere on the web, and HashTip automatically pulls the tips into a central, organized location, adding links to reviews and money-saving deals."
The company has also done some of it's own research and concluded that, "...moms with young children are the social media powerhouse demographic", according to the company press release. What it found was that virtually all moms update their social media pages, 99% search for bargains, 95% share tips with friends, 80% read online reviews and 85% make online purchases.
The service launched this week and is free to use, to learn more you can visit them online at http://www.hashtip.com/
