Make a Run for the Borders
A bankruptcy judge on Thursday approved a Borders Group's plan to liquidate its assets. Going out of business sales will begin at your local Borders' store as soon as Friday morning at some locations. Borders four decades as a bookseller is virtually over – the writing is now officially on the wall.
Their 400 stores and over 10,000 employees are soon to be gone from communities all over the country. But do not be remiss in your buying the soon to be released book by James Patterson, “Kill Me If You Can.” You can find it at Barnes & Nobles along with some hot coffee and latte, as well as all the other books you once read at Borders.
But will it be the same for all those former Borders' shoppers? Probably not, but keep your spirits lifted as you learn the ropes of Barnes & Nobles. And for those long time Barnes & Noble's shoppers, please greet anyone who walks into your store with their head hung low and a tear in their eye. For it might just be me or my wife. And just smile at all those new children gallivanting through the aisles in search of new toys in the back of their new store.
