Mucker Lab and Mozilla Team-up on Open-Source Startup Accelerator Program
Mucker Lab, one of the newest startup/accelerator programs based in Los Angeles announced yesterday they will be partnering with Mozilla's WebFWD to create a joint acceleration program aimed at at open-source ventures. The companies hope to help the Los Angeles area open-source community turn projects and ideas into viable businesses through the resources of both Mucker Lab and Mozilla.
Mucker Lab also confirmed they are now taking applications for their fall 2012 class. Previous companies to come out of Mucker Lab include SurfAir, Lifecrowd, Instacanv.as, Laffster.com, Wallaby Financial and others who participated in the programs culmination and inaugural Demo Day event back in April. 
Founded in October 2011, privately funded Mucker Lab provides a 12-week mentorship and funding program which includes $21k, office space, access to world-class mentors, legal, marketing and fundraising support.
WebFWD is Mozilla's program to support open-source entrepreneurs by offering 3-months of business coaching, and possible follow-on funding upon completion. The joint program between Mucker Lab and WebFWD will provide teams of dedicated technologists with up to 6-months (including 3-months at Mucker Lab) of mentorship, guidance, and resources to help make them successful companies. Teams will also have access to the broader technology ecosystem including Mozilla's global network, infrastructure and other world-class resources. 
Pascal Finette, Director of Mozilla's WebFWD acceleration program said, "The new Mucker Lab-Mozilla partnership will allow open-source entrepreneurs, especially those based in Los Angeles, to receive a great jump start to their venture via resources and expertise."
