NOLAbound to Give Away 25 All Expense Paid Trips to New Orleans
NOLAbound, a program seeking to promote entrepreneurship in New Orleans, is giving away 25 all expense paid trips to New Orleans. Funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, the project seeks “to assess the status of New Orleans as a model of new business progress and thinking.” Named America’s “Biggest Brain Magnet” by Forbes and “Coolest Startup City in America” by Inc. magazine, New Orleans has become a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation.
NOLAbound is seeking individuals with strong connections within four business sectors, including arts-based businesses, biosciences, digital media, and sustainable industries, to visit the city and provide their personal insights. In addition to airfare, lodging, transportation and meals, NOLAbound will provide participants with access to events at the fourth annual New Orleans Entrepreneur Week. VIP access to select activities around the city, as well as an opportunity to meet with city leaders in growing sectors, will also be provided.
In return, applicants will document and share their impressions of the “new” New Orleans with their social networks on the NOLAbound website, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and personal websites or blogs. The entire five-day program, taking place from March 14-18, 2012, will be filmed and a documentary is scheduled to premiere in New Orleans in October 2012. One of the participants, chosen by NOLAbound Twitter followers, will be invited to return to New Orleans (again, all expenses paid) for the documentary’s world premiere.
The application is available on benolabound.com through December 16, 2011. Selections will be announced in January. Keep up with new developments on Twitter @benolabound and on facebook.com/beNOLAbound.com.
