Oil is a Rank Obscenity
Will we ever learn that oil is a dirty, filthy substance and a rank obscenity in all its forms, which should never have been mined from the ground or extracted from our precious waters in the first place?
The threat of global warming has aroused more skepticism and feet-dragging than action, and, if that isn’t enough, now a sea of that noxious black sludge has reached the coast of Florida and Louisiana, threatening everything that lives, not to mention the livelihood of many.
Many who live near the once pristine coastlines of Louisiana and Florida are angry at British Petroleum (BP) for the leak.
However, BP is not the problem, as accidents do happen and neglect has always been a fact of life. The problem is human shortsightedness: we have exploited a dirty resource, which is not sustainable and which should have been phased out decades ago.
Now, what more do we need to rise up against Big Oil and replace this nasty slime with safe, clean energy?
As a human society, we must unite together to sound the death knell of greedy oil companies that care only about profit, and not a whit about our precious planet.
After all, "Big Oil" has bought up and then mothballed patents for safer energy; it has essentially bought off our politicians with hefty campaign contributions; it has helped kill the electric car, and Big Oil laughs every time we pay at the pump.
There are those that assert that eliminating dirty energy such as oil and fossil fuels will wreak havoc on the world’s economies and throw us back to the Stone Age.
That's nonsense.
The creation of alternate sources of clean, green energy such as solar, wind and hydrogen will create an abundance of new jobs. Those that work for oil companies can fill out their applications in these environmentally-friendly sectors.
