I don't know what the heck is going on here but I just heard the news and found out that Boeing won the contract for the new tanker contract. What made it even more insulting was that the news anchor was talking about all the U.S. Jobs that had been saved. Now I know it's been a while since I was in school but I have to wonder when did Alabama leave the continental U.S.?

The article written by Luis Martinez said that both companies Boeing and European airplane conglomerate (EADS) has had many hits and starts. Each company won a previous version of the bidding process only to see the bidding restarted again in each case after faults were found with the original process. It is not clear whether this latest chapter and Boeing's victory will truly put an end to the saga. Boeing's successful protest of EADS's win of the contract two years ago led to the latest bidding war. A Boeing win in 2001 was thrown out after it was determined that the Air Force official in charge of awarding the contract had been negotiating to work at Boeing during the selection process.

I also have to wonder if the fact that Boeing's home office is based in Chicago, which is where the president is from, had anything to do with who was awarded the contract. It seems to me that something underhanded was going on when EADS clearly makes a tanker that has been proven effective already and is less expensive to the taxpayers. Why are we the people now going to pay for a plane that hasn't been tested from a company that hasn't delivered other orders for another plane yet.

My guess is that Alabama didn't vote for the current administration and just like with the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico the president has nothing for us. If we were Florida fighting for this contract I can guarantee we would have been given more consideration for those electoral votes.

I happen to like expressing my opinion from time to time on whats happening in the news. If anyone doesn't agree with or like what I have to say that's O.K. with me but don't be an butt about it. Get over it.
