Twitter Job Search Tips: Part Three
Job seekers need to locate suitable opportunities in both the advertised and hidden job market. For my previous Twitter posts, I predominantly shared tactics to locate suitable, advertised jobs on Twitter. Below are tips for locating targeted companies and company insiders using Twellow.
Go to www.twellow.com and register (if you have not done so) by selecting the Register for Free link (in the upper right of your screen) and entering your Twitter screen name, password, and email address. If you registered previously, just log in.
Input the name of a company of interest in the search field (at the top center of the screen). I entered Southwest Airlines.
View the matches. For Southwest Airlines, there were 44 matches including its official Twitter account, profiles of current and former employees including corporate recruiters and CEO, and so on.
Select the profiles of interest and the follow button to add these individuals to your Twitter group of followers. I selected the official Twitter profile for Southwest Airlines.
Afterwards, I viewed the company’s tweets and its employees' Twitter list (located under the Lists area of the company’s profile).
Nonetheless, when you execute a search for other companies like Pepsi; there will be hundreds if not thousands of matches for both non-employees and employees. Viewing all of these Twitter profiles to identify company insiders is not efficient.
Thus, you need to perform an advanced search on Twellow. Visit www.twellow.com, select the Search tab (in the top center of the page), and read the search tips.
Let’s assume I decided to locate Pepsi employees who work in marketing. As a result, I entered @(bio,extended_bio), Pepsi, marketing in the search field. Subsequently, I uncovered the Twitter profiles of Pepsi employees including a marketing manager, international marketing director, and VP of marketing.
I could ultimately follow and contact these individuals to generate referrals to the appropriate hiring managers.
Next, I decided to locate the product and marketing managers located in Dallas Texas. I entered (”Dallas”) “product manager” | “marketing manager” in the search field. I acquired one search result or match.
You now know how to locate suitable, advertised jobs, companies of interest, and company insiders on Twitter.
