U.S. Global Competitiveness Falls To #7 In The World. Ouch!

What a slap in the face fellow countrymen. The recently released Global competitiveness rankings do not bode well for the morale or world standing of what is in my opinion, the strongest economy known to mankind. Ever. As the accompanying charts will show we have fallen to number seven. In fact we are so accustomed to being number one, we have to ask "what happened". For perspective see the 2007 chart depicting us as number one. We have been on the descent ever since.

Yet our weak kneed leaders go back and forth debating silly and useless issues designed to garner personal aggrandizement, divide us as a nation and pay absolutely no attention to the common issues which affect us all. Pandering, blow dried fools that they are, what should I expect. I expect a hell of a lot more. And so should you.

I suppose our first credit downgrade in U.S. history was not enough to wake up these primadonna's. I guess $16 Trillion in charges to the yet to be born are of no concern. Ditto the depressionary feel of the country. Wake up you fools! Is there a leader amongst you all? I submit not a one. Too busy vying for reelection. And enriching themselves.

But there is blame aplenty to go around. Pick your party, does not matter which. I am ashamed of the current crop of leaders and have been for about three decades. Why do we continue to elect these hucksters. Pretty words, zero substance. People seem to be easily fooled by the con men. It must stop people and now!

But you ask are the rankings fair? Probably not. Switzerland, a no doubt beautiful country what with the majestic mountain peaks, at the top? Debatable by any metric. Watches and chocolate. I love both. We are far more creative and involved in every industry the world knows. In fact we created them all. And excelled forever. Until now.

I suspect a lot has to do with how large and all powerful our central planners have become. Regulate this, don't build by that bird nest, forget about all our oil. Permits for years just to open a small factory. Regulations by the tens of thousand to contend with daily. You bet this slows down progress as well as waste much time and money. In fact one would think our politicians who create this ever expanding maze want us to offshore our business. Too cynical? Ok fine, they are just stupid.
