My articles usually talk about financial news or a personal finance topic. Over the last few weeks as I've looked at the news sites and watched the markets, it's obvious that many Americans, from young adults to retirees, are still trying to make ends meet, find jobs,and save for their future, So I thought that a piece concerning food might serve people better than an economic update.

Food is usually the third-biggest expense in your budget so if you can find ways to drastically lower your grocery bill and still have a healthy meal, it's a no-brainer. In an article for Fitbie, Angela Kwan talked to nutritionists to find some basic grocery items that have lots of nutritional benefits at a very low price. Here‘s her list of super foods:

Food/Nutrition: Cost:

Dried Black Beans = $1.49 per 16oz. Bag
15 g of fiber, 9 g of protein per 1/4 cup (dry) $.12

Popcorn Kernels = $1.99 per 32oz. Bag
5 g of fiber per 1/4 cup (dry) $.10

Eggs = $1.99 per Dozen
6g of protein per egg, Vitamin D  $ .17

You don’t even have to be a gourmet cook to turn these foods into a delicious main course, side dish or snack! (That's my kind of super!)
