How Alex Trebek Has Changed My Life
In order to succeed in business, you must continue to learn. Stop learning and it’ll be near impossible to stay successful.
The best way to learn and grow is to feed your brain with a healthy dose of useful information and knowledge.
However, just like the food we put into our bodies, the food you place in your head should be low fat and full of nutrients.
I’ve developed a non-scientific method that has helped fuel my thoughts for optimal business, personal and social success.
Here are 3 simple ways I feed my brain on a daily basis.
Watch Jeopardy
The general knowledge quiz show of answers and questions is my lunch hour show. Tivo the program and you’ll always have episodes to watch on your schedule.
I find the show terribly addicting and a legitimate form of ‘edu-tainment’ programming.
Believe me, after a while of watching, you’re family and friends will think you’re an absolute genius.
Answers like Puccini, The Liberian Border and Shang Dynasty will literally fly out of your mouth before the contestant has a chance to say “What is...?”
Set Google News as your home page
Did you know that you can stay on top of current events (both national and world affairs) simply by reading the headlines?
That’s a 100% true fact. Go to news.google.com and set that page as your default home page.
Organize sections like Top Stories, Entertainment and Sports to suit your needs and spend a few minutes each day reviewing the day’s headlines.
With a handful of YouTube videos appropriately embedded into several of the story sections, you’ll never be out of the loop again.
Watch Jon & Kate hash it out
OK, maybe Jon & Kate Plus Eight is not your thing (it’s not really mine either) but you certainly do have other guilty TV pleasures, right?
Well, here’s a free pass to indulge away in your guilty pleasure – whether it’s watching Bret Michaels, a real housewife or one of the Kardashians.
You see, just like with the occasional chocolate bar or ice cream cone, your mind needs a break once in a while. Give yourself permission to veg out when needed to keep from going bonkers.
And There You Have It
Successful business owners understand the value of good ol’ fashioned common sense sprinkled with some well-rounded general knowledge.
Follow my three-step plan and you too can thank Alex Trebek for changing your life.
