Is Your Small Business Drowning?
With so many small businesses battling it out online for a share of their own particular market, it’s all too easy to drown in a sea of SEO.
It can be difficult to know how your business can make waves with so much online ‘noise’ out there.
I’ve written some tips below for small business owners who want to swim against the current and make sure their companies succeed.
Don’t follow the herd
Let’s say you’re a plumber in London. Does your website look and read much the same as all the other London plumber websites? If so, this isn’t going to get you noticed – so why not take a different approach?
This could be through your branding, using light-hearted videos on your home page or specializing in one particular service rather than doing all types of plumbing jobs.
People in general like to play it safe and that’s why there are so many copycat small businesses and websites out there. Don’t be another one to follow the herd, carve your own path and never look back.
Play to your strengths
If you’re no good at copywriting, don’t understand SEO or just don’t have time to do these things and run your business, then pay someone else to do them.
The money you pay out should give you an advantage over many other small businesses in your niche that are doing things themselves when they can find the time. Hiring a professional should also deliver a good return on your investment.
Ask for help and advice
Just because your friends and family aren’t involved in your industry, doesn’t mean they can’t be a source of good ideas. If you’re struggling to decide what direction to take your business in, ask people you know what they think, you never know what might come out of your conversations.
