Admit it – your gaga over Google.

It feels like every waking hour you spend on search engine optimization (SEO) is all about landing on that coveted first page of Google for your targeted keywords, right?

Do nothing more, however, and you’ve only won half the battle.

You see, Google is all about providing their users with the best search results possible.

Therefore, it’s one thing to show up high in the search engines, and it’s an entirely different thing to get the search users to click on your link, visit your site and find what they’re looking for.

How To Increase Your Click-Through Rate

We all know Google’s IQ is way off the chart (they’re like a machine or something). In fact, Google can tell the number of times your website appears in their search results versus the number of times a user clicks through to your site.

And that 'clicking through to your site’ part is the most important.

The more often your site link is clicked on, the more Google will continue to reward you with good placement.

So how can you cash in on that Google reward and increase your click-through rate?

Try these on for size.

1: Optimize your title tag

It’s your webpage title tag that becomes that big blue link users will click on to visit your site. Is yours engaging, intriguing and accurate?

Would it entice you to visit if you were searching for a service or product like yours? Or does it just say something like “Home” “Welcome to ABC Widgets Inc.” or (even worse) “Template Page 0729?”

2: Optimize your site description

The descriptive snippet that appears in the search results for each webpage is either taken from a portion of relevant on-page content or from your meta description tag.
