Workers Spend Five Hours Every Week Stressed Out - Because of Technology.
A new survey by Stinkyink.Com has revealed that slow internet, computers crashing and the printer running out of ink or paper sees workers feeling harassed for an average of 56 minutes each day. Not to mention busy mobile phone networks, constant texts from your other half and even seeing unflattering pictures of yourself tagged on Facebook. The findings revealed that more than a third of workers reckon technology makes their blood boil more than anything else.
Compounding this is the fascinating statistic that over a third of workers surveyed feel technology is the number one cause of stress to them,be it from that slow internet, computers crashing midway through an important task or the printer running out of ink or paper. No wonder your employees may seem tense every time they walk apprehensively to the office copier.
By far the most troublesome pieces of office equipment are PCs and laptops, followed by printers and phones according to the study by ink cartridge supplier Stinkyink.Com.
The most stressful part for me as the boss is the fact I’m supposed to care when somebodies program exhibits a fatal error. Do they want sympathy, a screwdriver or a brain transplant – just do what you know you have to do – reboot the bloody machine, see I’m stressing just thinking about it!
However when you dive into the stats and realize that one in 10 workers gets stressed when there is no milk for a cup of coffee in the morning, maybe we should be more worried about the mental state of the work force than the technology that so ruins their day. Technology is here to stay, so do we need better and more training in its use?
