Casey Anthony's Lawyers Explain Controversial Celebration
Just when you thought Casey Anthony's acquittal couldn't get any more controversial, her lawyers had to go and make headline news for themselves yet again by enjoying a horribly tasteless celebration after the verdict. Anthony's legal team literally went across the street from the courthouse (to the Terrace 390 restaurant) where they were then seen blatantly popping champagne and having the time of their lives. Attorney Cheney Mason even went ahead and took things one step further by flipping a middle finger at the cameras which could see everything they were doing — because they chose a place with glass windows!

The Anthony trial has been a tough, three-year road for everyone involved so it's understandable that the winning side wanted to celebrate their achievement. With that said however, the main thing to keep in mind is that the case revolved around the horrific death of an innocent three year-old.
Not only that, but just minutes before the crude celebration Casey's attorney Jose Baez had claimed that there were no winners because at the end of the day, Caylee is still gone from this world. The remorse behind those statements was almost immediately negated by the utter jubilation seen across the street.
Perhaps all the backlash the defense team has received over this celebration has made them take a step back and realize just how bad it looked. Mason has even tried to defend the situation by explaining, "We were celebrating saving Casey Anthony's life." He also claimed that the middle finger was aimed toward "[a] guy from a radio station who has been stalking my team for months. He was yelling at the ladies on my team, 'Are you on your period?' and he was also calling them 'baby killers. This guy was outside and pounding on the glass and I flipped the son-of-a-b*tch off, and I'll do it again!"
He then went on to say that he was merely expressing himself and that it's his First Amendment right to do so.
