Coroner to Autopsy Film Director Tony Scott Today
Coroners are performing an autopsy today on Director Tony Scott who jumped to his death from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in the Los Angeles Harbor yesterday afternoon. Reports from ABC News indicate that Scott may have had an inoperable brain tumor.
Al Marroquin, Staff Writer for the The Daily Breeze, broke the news of the alleged suicide which occurred on Sunday, August 19, reporting that Scott had “climbed a fence on the south side of the bridge’s apex and lept off ‘without hesitation’ around 12:30 p.m., according to the Coroner’s Department and port police.”
Tony Scott was revered by action/thriller fans for his numerous thriller and action-oriented films featuring the industry’s leading men such as Tom Cruise (pictured here on the set of Days of Thunder with his Director, Scott), Bruce Willis, Eddie Murphy, Christian Slater, Denzel Washington, Gene Hackman, Brad Pitt, John Travolta and Robert Redford.
His roster of films began in 1983 with The Hunger with David Bowie, Top Gun with Tom Cruise, Beverly Hills Cop starring Eddie Murphy, another Tom Cruise starrer Days of Thunder, and includes Man on Fire, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Unstoppable, True Romance and many others. Stunned reactions to his death were coming in from all corners of the world. Director Ron Howard called it, “a tragic day.” echoing the sentiments of many.
Tony Scott, is survived by his wife, Donna Scott and their twin sons, Max and Frank.
