We take the time to read these books so your time isn't wasted.
B.P.R.D. Hell On Earth : The Devil's Engine - Issue 1 (of 3)
The slow build in the B.P.R.D. universe has been moody and scary and this mini-series isn't all the different. There is atmosphere oozing off the page and genuine terror felt for the world, if not so much the characters.
That has been a problem with this particular story-line as none of the characters are very sympathetic. Except for the dog. The poor dog! The side-plot is much more interesting in a bigger sense, which involves Occultist Nazis. A main-stay for this universe. The cover is fantastic and the interior is pretty great. Would have scored higher had there been more to the story.
Score: 7 out of 10
Conan The Barbarian : The Argos Deception - Issue 4
The cover is far from perfect but the interior artwork makes up for this. And the coloring is such a prevalent part of the story, it almost deserves top billing. A great deal of the issue is narration but is doesn't matter. The story is amazing in quality.
In fact, not only is it a fantastic story but it is a terrific love story. This is something so rare in comic books that it should be treasured. The hero and his pirate queen are head-over-heels in love. Their passion bursts from the page, exploding like a star in the night skies. The feelings are raw and overpowering. Wonderful.Continued on the next page
