Dark Horse Comics - New Release Reviews For October 31, 2012
The entertainment world was rocked, yesterday, by the acquisition of Lucas Films by the Walt Disney Co. for a little over four billion dollars. Disney continued its trend of bringing family entertainment into one place much like it did with its acquisitions of Pixar and Marvel Entertainment. This deal brings such properties as the Star Wars universe as well as Indiana Jones.
Disney wasted no time announcing plans for three new Star Wars movies. It is unclear how this will effect Dark Horse Comics' license for Star Wars comics, including this week's Darth Maul story. Titles are scored on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the very best possible. We take the time to read these books so your time isn't wasted.
Angel & Faith - Issue 15
There were two stories in this issue and they were both excellent, for different reasons. The first half was about Whistler who was a pivotal character in Angel's existence. Generally allies all this time, everything shifted here, setting up some upcoming stories. This was the more emotional story as it explored some fascinating parallels. The art was alright.
The second story delved into the back story of Pearl and Nash. This story wasn't as engaging as their history was dark and strange. and only nefarious ends were explored. The attempts at sentimentality were just kind of gross. The artwork was fantastic in this tale. The issue's cover was excellent.
Score: 7.5 out of 10
B.P.R.D. - Issue 100
Continued on the next page
B.P.R.D. always seemed to be a collection of mini-series strung together. Generally speaking, the stories have been excellent with a rotating cast of artists and occasional writers. The down-side to this has been a bit of confusion for new readers to pick issues up and know where they're at. At least the collected editions were numbered.
