Dark Horse Comics - New Release Reviews For January 16, 2013
Comic books have the power to reach an enormous audience given the blending of word and art, as well as their typically dynamic themes mirrored in the super-heroes oft contained within. Sometimes, however, the motives of the creatives are not always clear. A comic book being distributed on US Military bases has gained the attention of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.
The Manga release, entitled Manga Messiah, is claimed to be promoting anti-gay and anti-Jewish messages. The complaint states that chaplains are distributing this material on bases and the Secretary of Defense has been contacted in order to have this stopped. New Release Reviews is curious to see the outcome. There are four new comics from Dark Horse Comics, this week. Titles are scored on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the very best possible. We take the time to read these books so your time isn't wasted.

Conan - Issue 12
Death came, yet Conan seemed to conquer it all. Some losses were a bit harder to see. And one loss may destroy everything wonderful about this compelling take on the barbarian. It's a moving and sad tale, filled with passion and love and violence. The interior artwork is outstanding but the cover shines. It's gripping and beautiful.
Score: 9 out of 10
Billy The Kid's Old Timey Oddities And The Orm Of Loch Ness - Issue 4
This comic is blessed with some wonderfully inventive and stylish artwork, interior and cover. It is perfect for the story which is violent and bleak. The story explodes in little fits, and then ends suddenly. Impressively enough, it manages to find moments that are tender, yet strange. Perhaps there will be more adventures with this group.
