Howard Stern Would Replace Simon Cowell for $100 Million
Rumors have been circulating for the last week or so, suggesting American Idol producers' top choice to replace head judge Simon Cowell is none other than shock jock Howard Stern.
As a regular listener of Stern's morning program, Howard initially dismissed the potential of this story, stating concerns over the travel aspects required for the show. Stern currently broadcasts from Manhattan and has repeatedly stated his aversion to traveling cross country, even for promotional reasons. As an American Idol judge, he would be required to film in Los Angeles weekly, as well as, travel across the country as a judge in the off season. This would be a major change for the well-known homebody.
Stern did acknowledge being approached, though vaguely, "I was approached by a major TV network to take over a TV show and leave here and do that next year — and I did turn it down . . . I'm not even sure if I want to be working. I'm waiting to see what happens."
